ABOUT KIAN SHAH

Since moving back to the U.S from Japan in 2014, I’ve worked to capture and inspire emotions in individuals and communities. My work has developed over the years, but my deep rooted connection to Japanese calligraphy and brush work has inspired my most recent pieces.

Using themes of calligraphy to display dramatic contrast, I seek to produce a minimalist, yet free-flowing, surface. Even though I began creating primarily for myself, through my service and outreach initiatives, I began to enjoy the feelings, memories, and emotions I can deliver to others through my work.
